Letter to Mr. Ban Ki-Moon : Pesanannya Bang Zen

bang zen, iki lho pesanannya.
monggo, have a look :p

Dear Mr. Ban Ki-Moon

First of all, it’s really an honor for me to have a chance to write to you.  This letter is about the UN contribution in promote the peaceful use of nuclear. As we know Iran’s claim that it has a “peaceful” right to acquire all it needs to come within days of having a bomb should remind us of what the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) was meant to avoid. As the diplomat who first proposed the treaty, Irish Foreign Minister Fred Aiken, explained in 1959, a world of nuclear-ready states would resemble a town full of armed residents pointing guns at each other’s heads. At some point, mutual suspicion and the advantage of firing first would give way to mayhem.

Just as many conventional thermal power stations generate electricity by harnessing the thermal energyfossil fuels, nuclear power plants convert the energy released from the nucleus of an atom, typically via nuclear fission. When a relatively large fissile atomic nucleus (usually uranium-235 or plutonium-239) absorbs a neutron, a fission of the atom often results. Fission splits the atom into two or more smaller nuclei with kinetic energy (known as fission products) and also releases gamma radiation and free neutrons. A portion of these neutrons may later be absorbed by other fissile atoms and create more fissions, which release more neutrons, and so on. released from burning

This nuclear chain reaction can be controlled by using neutron poisons and neutron moderators to change the portion of neutrons that will go on to cause more fissions. The best chance for nations seeking to prevent further nuclear proliferation is to enforce the original presumption of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty’s. against the unnecessary spread of unsafeguardable nuclear activities and materials. Article IV of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) recognises the right of the parties to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

We believe that nuclear energy has an important role to play in combating the effects of climate change, ensuring energy security and achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

The importance of civil nuclear power

1. enables developing countries to source the low-carbon energy they need to underpin sustainable development

2. proven technology which generates low carbon electricity, is affordable, dependable, safe, and capable of increasing diversity of energy supplies.

3. essential part of any global solution to the challenges of climate change and energy security

With the conditions existing today, it's good to reinforce the UN laws they have, so that nuclear power does not fall into the wrong hands that will make nuclear power as a deadly weapon for the world community. With the prohibition in certain clauses in the UN can minimize the misuse of nuclear energy. And also with the research on nuclear power to be tightened its supervision, so that no countries are secretly making nuclear for the benefit of the negative. UN can also make a policy here where nuclear power is used for things that help the development of state land, for example, build nuclear power plants.

I think it’s all for my letter, I hope this letter can be taken into consideration for the UN to get much better than this in the handling of nuclear power in order to create peace and not just a weapon for war. I hope the UN can move forward in the international arena.

Thank you

Best Regards,

Ananda Ruriska Saputri
